EFFECTIVE IVY REMOVAL – TEST RESULTS
We started testing three years ago. With Ivy-Ripper version 10.0. Or was it 8.0? It featured the prong and a saw blade, and it pulled based on the same principle we are still using.
So we think it’s fair to look at the results and infer from them how effective the latest version will be.
And here are the results:
Date: December 2015: In less than an hour we ripped out around 200 square feet of ivy that was growing in a thick, well-established patch in our local park, Waluga Park in Lake Oswego, Oregon. We drew the tool in a cross-hatch pattern, removed the sticks and debris that got in the way, and pulled roots and all. We applied no herbicides or other chemicals and used no other tools.
Now, nearly three years later, in September 2018, we returned to the site and the results amazed even us. There is virtually no regrowth. (Photo at left of one part of the test patch – note one small leaf in lower right quadrant toward center line.)
